■Mayor and City Council
Mayor:
The Mayor is in charge of all affairs of the city and serves as
a representative for the city. The Mayor is an elected official and
serves a four year term.
Deputy Mayor:
The Deputy Mayor assists with the Mayor’s duties and is selected by
the Mayor with City Council approval. The Deputy Mayor serves a four
year term.
City Council:
The City Council is composed of 28 elected members who serve four year
terms. The council meets four times a year (March, June, September,
and December) with each meeting lasting 20 days. Occasionally, the City
Council holds a temporary meeting if an urgent issue arises.

Planning & Area Promotion Department -includes
the Planning Division, the City Management Reform Office, the Secretariat
Office, the Information Services Division, the City Planning Promotion
Office, and the Opening Japan 150th Year Festival 〜Ii Naosuke〜 Promotion Office.
General Affairs Department -includes the General Affairs
Division, the Personnel Division, the Finance Division, the Tax Division,
the Tax Payment Division, the Contracts Office, and the Public Property
Management Office.
Citizens' Affairs & Equality Department - includes
the Citizens' Affairs Division, the National Insurance and Pension Division,
the Gender Equality & International Relations Division, the Human
Rights Division, the Living Environment Division, and the City Sanitation
Center.
Public Health & Welfare Department - includes
the Social Welfare Division, the Care Work Division, the Juveniles’
Welfare Division, the Children’s Welfare Division, the Challenged People’s
Welfare Division, and the Public Health Management Division.
Industry Department-includes the Agricultural Administration
Division, the Commerce and Industry Division, and the Tourism Division.
Urban Development & Construction Department -
includes the Public Works Management Division, the Road & River
Division, the Architecture & Housing Division, the City Planning
Division, the Architectural Administration Division, the Land Readjustment
Division, and the Traffic Division.
Sewage Department - includes the Sewage Management
Division and the Sewage Construction Division.
